Zoranxtv launch provides a dynamic News Service for the Connected Generation
Newly set up online news outlet, Zoranxtv, makes a splash on social media and aims to provide an international news service with ambitious long-term goals.
Zoranxtv, established in February 2016 and based in Lagos, Nigeria, aims to provide a revolutionary news source to keep pace with the increasing modernization of media consumption. Originally founded by Chibuzor Nwabunwan, Zoranxtv has gradually increased audience engagement by providing news on a daily basis to foster a thriving online community.
In order to do this, Zoranxtv provides a wide range of industry-leading features. These include providing the ability for users to upload and download music. This reflects the evolving music industry; in 2015 online music consumption as a whole grew 15.2% whilst physical music consumption declined by up to 50% in the US.
Zoranxtv is one of the first news programs to be established in order to be fully integrated with social media. In addition to providing online podcasts, 5 different social media platforms are used to maximize the potential viewer, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, all of which encapsulate a wide variety of various market segments. Zoranxtv’s Facebook page has over 1000 likes, with their other social media platforms seeing similar figures and positive feedback.
The online website displays, interactive boxouts and user integration. Zoranxtv has tailored news categories to appeal to a business audience whilst combining a focus on celebrity life, including running narratives about celebrities. Whilst pay-per-click advertising is not yet used, there are plans in the future to boost revenue through advertising.
Additionally used is the ability of users to sign up to Zoranxtv’s email news bulletin. This includes celebrity and sports news, and is put together specifically for email usage. Features such as these are used to complement the idea that Zoranxtv is ostensibly based around providing a daily news service.
Founder Nwabunwan says “It is a dream I am working on to provide online articles and news”. His success is reflected in the feedback of Zoranx and the steady increase in user numbers since February.
Eventually, says Nwabunwan, “the dream is to additionally provide a TV program”. If this were to go ahead, it would trailblaze a path for other online news providers, as it would enable integration between different media platforms.
Zoranxtv aims to be the leading source for news, information, and resources for the connected generation’. Zoranxtv, a print media service, was established by Nwabunwan in 2012, but the website created in February 2016 following a gradual decline in global print media sales.
