Key-Kompress Screens Used in Designing Contemporary Sydney Home

Madeleine Blanchfield Architects have recently designed and constructed a bold residence with a number of beautiful architectural features using Key-Kompress perforated screens by Designcor. The upper level of a residence at Coogee in Sydney is shrouded in perforated screens, which provide privacy from neighbours and a sense of containment to the more private bedroom and study spaces.

Key-Kompress panels are robust and durable wall acoustic panels are not only impact resistant but weather resistant as well, making them ideal for wet area applications. They are unaffected by rot or termites, offering the consumer excellent value for money. In the Coogee residence the architects included double height voids, to create a home that feels much bigger than it is. The house has been designed to be robust, liveable and light filled, but at the same time, the layers of spaces provide flexibility, separation and privacy.

Throughout the home, a pared back material palette and tones allow the volumes to dominate. A hallway with wood elements, like a bookshelf and door frames, leads from the front of the house to the living areas. The Key-Kompress panels in white echo the contemporary Australian palette.

Made from high density compressed fibre cement perforated to achieve excellent acoustic properties, Key-Kompress is particularly effective in building facades and commercial cladding applications. It is strong and has a smooth surface which can be pre-sealed to minimize construction and painting time. Key-Kompress can be used with K100 backing to maximise acoustic properties. They can be used in a range of settings like internal walls, exterior building facades, eaves linings, industrial buildings and warehouses, schools and universities. Buildings that are in close proximity to salt water, swimming pools, leisure centres and clubs that have outdoor terraces, exterior partitions, smokers’ and gaming areas can use Key-Kompress for a modern and contemporary look.

Key-Kompress panels come in solid feature design and acoustic options. The acoustic panels are perforated or slotted. The panels are available in selected sheet sizes and thickness that offer a fast or economical solution and accepts a range of decorative finishes.
